Happy Weirdness.
16/4/03 15:38--I got offered a Computing Services internship today. This means that even if Tor can't use me, I'll have something to do.
--I told my major advisor today that I was planning on going to Otakon, and she perked up just like that. I was like, ....oh, my god....my major advisor watches anime? 'Cause I so wasn't expecting that to happen. She ranted about beautiful cinematography for a few minutes, and then I figured out that she'd seen Blood: the Last Vampire, 'cause she couldn't remember the title, but knew it was about vampires, and I was reluctant to suggest Hellsing as an option right off the bat. Does anyone know anything about this anime? I've only seen what's on the website. Is it any good? I recommended to her Miyazaki films and Grave of the Fireflies.

Spirited Away

And Blood the Last Vampire was OK. Not great. Great to look at, but it felt liek half the storyline had been cut out. If she liked the way the characters were drawn, she might like "Noir," because it's got a similar style--but I don't think Noir has been officially released in the US; I saw it as a fansub. "Noir" is cool, though--about female assassins, and you're actually supposed to take them seriously, because there are NO PANTY FLASHES. Whoa.
Congrats!
