Tomorrow I have my wisdom tooth surgery.
Today the doctor's office called and asked about payment; my dad had no idea about what the fine print on some contract or other said and I managed to be completely cut out of the "what is going on" loop again.
I spent most of the day making stuff out of clay...my crowning achievement is a fun little barette for when my hair gets long enough to keep in a barette.
Today my parents fought with my sister.
My father and I had a conversation about the new LoTR movie which mostly consisted of me waxing poetic about the old New Zeland jeweler, a big Tolkien fan, who they picked to make the ring, who considered it a great honor, and my father saying that they could have just used a wedding band and he didn't need to get all worked up over making a movie prop.
My mother fought with my father after falling from a chair and spraining her ankle when he told her "wait a minute" when he was watching the TV and then he got mad at her for getting mad at him and chucked an ice pack at her making the floor all slippery. Hooray.
My sister accurately diagnosed 99% of my parent's problems with life during the argument she had with them, wherein they asserted that the same parenting techniques they used on her when she was 5 still worked. Not that they ever did.
I seriously wondered today for the first time if my parents would be happier divorced.
I remembered that I carry all my stress in my back and shoulders. They have been aching for the past three days, and it took me a while to recognize the sensation: apparently being at home is more stressful than Exam Week at the Mawr.
I will not be online for the next few days, I will be recovering. Hopefully I can get someone to go to the library and get Les Mis for me. I need other people's troubles to keep me effectively out of my own.

3/1/03 10:35 (UTC)Sorry your parents have to fight so much... It was like that a lot at my home too, though more siblings than parents. I've heard at times that couples that get into little fights like that sometimes actually are more likely to stay together than break up. It's weird but maybe its true, or maybe its an urban myth... dunno?

Anyway, hope you recover ok, I'll be around to talk to if you need someone to keep you sane during recovery this weekend.

3/1/03 12:52 (UTC)Advice to someone near her: get her some Jell-O. I don't know who if anyone is available for this, but I can hope. Having helped out with many people having dental work in the past, one bit of wisdom has always stuck in my mind:
Jell-O GOOD.
Yogurt BAD.
Maybe plain yogurt would work better, but the fruity stuff hurts.

4/1/03 14:00 (UTC)Homasse: looking forward to it. Wishing I could go with sister to Germany next year. Not moving out of country anytime soon but will look forward to visiting those who may be visiting there, for long periods of time if possible. ;)
