Don't try this at home, folks. It could get nasty.
Today I was woken up from a lovely dream at about 10:15 in the morning by my favorite aunt coming up the stairs and yelling, "hello. Is anyone home?"
She is my favorite aunt, so I managed to open both eyes and mumble something approximating, "hi. Morning. Here."
Everything was fine until she barged into my room, proceeded to pull the shade up, and invited my two loud and obnoxious (and male) cousins into my room to wake me up. Which they did. Banging a loud blaring fanfare on my electric keyboard.
I sat up and said, "hello. What are you doing here?" Realized that I was wearing my oldest and scrubbiest nightclothes and was grumpy.
Aunt: "What are you doing today? Do you have plans? Where is your sister?"
Me: *quickly deciding what day it is* "Um. Courtney and I were going to watch Spider Man at the mall. She is at a job interview. I don't know what else I am doing right now."
Aunt: "Good. You can take care of younger obnoxious and hyperactive cousin for the day. I called your mom and she said it was ok."
Me: "Um. Um. Uh. Okay." *thinking: why didn't she call ME and ask if it was ok? And because I said I didn't know what I was doing didn't mean that I wasn't going to do anything at all!*
Spend half of day with hyperactive cousin at Spider Man. Which of course, he has already seen.
Drop off cousin at grandparent's retirement home. Find out that they are coming over to eat tomorrow night for dinner. No one tells me these kind of things.
Note. If favorite aunt does this again, strangle her with lace-edged pillows and blanket. Despite the fact that you can stand to talk to her, unlike most people in your extended family, who quickly bore you to tears.
Another happier note: going out to breakfast with good friends who I have not seen in a long time tomorrow. Then spending time with another friend (hi, Rebecca!) for the rest of the day. Spider Man was a good movie: not intellectually stimulating, but a lot of fun. And "My Friend Totoro" makes a very very good Friday-night movie to introduce your best friend to anime. And read So You Want to be a Wizard, also a lot of fun. And got a good Tai Chi book from the library. :) Happy.
