I am convinced that there are several things which one should never have to wake up thinking, such as:

I've just killed my father again. Look at the blood.
The bus is tipping backwards over this cliff; my sister and I are going to die.
There are millions of silverfish eggs attached to my face, and soon they are going to hatch.

One should especially never wake up with the last one and actually feel like there are millions of silverfish eggs attached to one's face for the next five minutes.

To put it bluntly: I have lately been having a spate of very very bad dreams. Even the ones that start off beautifully, however--like the bus dream, it started off with a beautiful purple and pink sunrise where the clouds were edged in orange gilt--seem to turn to crap in a very short time. For the past two months or so, this has been my default dream-setting.
Not only do I feel as if I have not gotten any sleep to speak of, but I feel as if I have gotten negative amounts of sleep.

Any suggestions on how to get decent, or even boring, dreams again would be much appreciated.

Awws :(

*snuggles you* I'm sorry :( Maybe its just stress related... all this stress may be giving you bad dreams. Once things calm down, maybe your dreams will too.

On the topic, I had a really wonderful dream about you last night, I'll tell you all about it when I see you tonight ok? You'll like it *grins*

When I was eight, a friend of mine gave me a doll that was somehow dream related. She came with a pendant that you could wear and it claimed to be able to give you good dreams if you put it under your pillow at night.
When I was eight I still had the occational nightmares and put it under my pillow. Stopped having nightmares. Stopped remembering any kind of dream at all for that matter and it was a long time before I started having dreams that I remembered after I woke up.

So my suggestion is to make a thing to put under your pillow or something that will give you good dreams. Ask Athena or the cosmic power of your choice to bless it. Maybe that will help. :)

I miss that nightmare I used to have . .

oh, I wouldn't recommend one that stopped dreams -- that was a feature that drove me crazy. Just one that gives good dreams, or interesting dreams and makes the nightmares hold off until you're in a state of mind where you can enjoy them. :

Ooh! ooh! I have you beat. I dream in storylines, adn lately they've been Stephen King and Asimov crossed, I swear..

Like.. ther ewas teis one.. where I was one of two (eventually I think I was just following her around) and her name was Willow, I think, adn her family kept being picked off (she lived on like a space station) because these bad guys thought she knew somethign (did I mention she was like 7 or 8?) about a secret formula they needed.. adn then she was with her cousin or borther or somethign and they came acros sone of these really big snakes on teh station that had escaped from its pen.. and.. and.. he kicked it, adn it got mad and ate him whole.. which would've bene funny, but he was screaming, and swearing and saying really horrible things as this girl was running away with her hands over her ears and it was liek a scene from a really evil horror flick.. >.<

and then for some reason he came back OUT of the snake (the other end, I know, I know, it's not how it actually happens.. it takes longer) and you could see the muscle on his face melting and he was still screaming until it was a moving skull and it was so icky..

And then the bad guys came up out of nowhere and patted her arm adn said they'd clean it up adn find the snake and put it back and by this time people were dead.. and there was just this little group with her and the not so nice people.. and then they all went into deep sleep for some set period of time to avoid some disease or something..

And then it skipped forward adn Willow was tehre as a young adult working in like the hospital section of the station and there were mostly young adults.. and there was a narrator? O.o who was saying that smoe people neer woke up from the hypersleep and that those people woudl never be able to be revived and there was a cage with laser bards and teh snake in it and they were laughing and having fun with a glowing solution.. (their version of a water gun fight?) and had these black lights on and it was all glowy ad fun.. so I guess it had an ok ending but it scared the nuts outta me O.o

and don't get me started on teh Baylor Tornado dream.. that was really bad -_-

Would you like to borrow the dreamcatcher I am borrowing from Sharon Rose? I haven't been using it lately.

Fiffle, Spirit Sis. I make them ;) The stone in the center attracts dreams as they float around. The bad dreams get tangled in the web and are destroyed by morning's first sunlight. The good dreams navigate the webbin and climb down teh feather to the sleeper ^.^

A thought is just a thought. A dream is just a dream, good or bad. When you train your mind not to feel anything about bad dreams, you win. As a diabetic I get a lot of them. Bad dreams are caused by low blood sugar. You may need to eat a snack before bed. Something that digests slowly like cheese and crackers, maybe with salami on it. Why low blood sugar? It triggers depression and adrenaline release, key for bad dreams. True, you need some stress, but adrenaline all by itself makes that. Eat a bedtime snack and it will probably help a lot. Easy to try.
