eredien: Dancing Dragon (Default)
I read Zamyatin's We this semester for a class. Besides being an excellent novel, it gave me a lovely metaphor for how the campus bubble feels. The country-in-question in the story is covered all around by a large green glass bubble-dome. You can occasionally see outside, but you're confused about what you see. Little squirrels? What are those? What's a cloud?

I get to go outside of the self-imposed bubble this weekend. Boyfriend, and friends, and real food, and maybe horseback riding. Not to mention ('cause I really worked at it) an entire weekend not having to worry about doing any homework.

I will probably be able to finish that book on Medieval Memory and Memory Cathedrals, too. Lovely, wonderful.

And a lovely Harry Potter reference in today's Zebra Girl. Life cannot get too much better.
