This is a bit from the graduation speech last year.
I hope you think on it throughout the weekend.
"...the women of Bryn Mawr are not connected by a common thread, but by a rope that passes through all of our hands. Every day I tug on this rope, and I feel it tug back on me. I pull because I have learned to believe in the excellence of women. I pull with words, with relationships, with research and evidence and the scientific method. I pull with love. And as I pull, I listen: somewhere, out of sight, a great bell rings. I don't know whether the bell is ringing because of my exertions, or because thousands of other women have spent the last [119] years pulling on this rope with all their might. But I can hear the tones passing through the air above..."

Have wonderful Garden Parties. May the weather be bright and clear and not too hot. May your parents get along with your professors. May you sing Sophias as loudly as any class before or since. May you cry. May you smile more.
