Healthcare
3/5/05 22:06I'm going to get healthcare! I'm all enrolled and stuff! I have a primary care physician and I can get new glasses! They don't do dental but that's ok 'cause my teeth always love me so it takes 20 minutes, two x-rays, and $125 once a year and I can deal with that on my own.
So happy. Health insurance is a good thing; I haven't been to a doctor or dentist since sometime last year about ten days from now. And the optometrist in even longer, which explains why I can't see faraway stuff.
It made me so nervous to be off health insurance. I'm generally a pretty healthy person, but paying out of pocket for weird accidents or something would not have been happy. And I remembered what foleyartist said to me as she graduated, which can be summed up as "get health insurance, no I really mean it!" and her words have been ringing in my head ever since.
Yay primary care physician.
Note to self: I stil have to transfer my records and make appointments for next month and stuff. And find money for the dentist and see if the lenses are covered or just the eye exam. And find an apartment.
Yippee.

4/5/05 11:59 (UTC)Mind you, free dentistry is basically unavailable in the UK these days, too. Nearly all British dentists refuse to take new NHS patients, so when people move, they're forced to return to their former town for checkups, to stay on their dentists' books. Hardly a satisfactory situation.
