1.) Luke's wedding and the associated trip was really nice.

2.) I have two part time jobs now. One is the still bad job. One is the assistant editor of a small local pennysaver type paper. I am happy about the second and sad I still have to keep the first for the forseeable future or until they make the editor thing full time. If they do at all which they might but I don't know yet. I am currently working the following hours, should hours on the bad job even be available: 9-5, 6-9. It starts tomorrow.

3.) I have written up a schedule of people to call each week: Gaudior and Rush-That-Speaks, Gerbilfolk, Rabidfangurl, zelas8x8, and Sei and Spooniest. If you would like to reserve an evening slot from approximately 9ish to sometime around 10 pm, tell me.

4.) Nexus people, I will get to you soon, I promise. John or Rai, can you tell them I haven't forgotten them, but merely have a godforsaken internet connection and work schedule?

5.) I am depressed and lonely and twitchy. It's neurosis fledging season. Approach with caution. If I say something supremely offensive, stupid, tactless, or bite your head off in conversation, or conversely sit silent for five minutes on the phone, I apologize. I am not thinking correctly.

I am going to bed now.

Hmmm. I think Lila talks to Sei Shonagon regularly Tuesdays, and I have my parents Mondays, so... pick a day? Wednesday or Thursday both sound good to me.

Or wait... it might make more sense to schedule you on Monday or Tuesday for a time when we're _not_ on the phone with other people. In which case: I usually talk Monday to my parents between about 9 and 10pm, and to Sarah on Tuesdays between 9ish and 10:30ish, so any time before or after that = good.

Of course, this week, our schedule will be... interesting... so you might try calling us in New York any day from tomorrow evening until we announce we've arrived in Boston. But talking to you yay. And congrats on editing, because that sounds actually worth doing, and do call so we can distract you from the depressed/twitchy and do something about the lonely.

Love,
Ruth.

Glad you enjoyed both the trip and the reason for it. :) It sounds like the editorship could work out quite nicely, too, so that's a bit of good news. I imagine the experience of working there will be rather different to my paper, but if you have any queries, I'll do my best to answer them.

Obviously, having to work the other job too makes for a very long day, particularly when some of it is spent doing work you're really not keen on. It's a wise move to plan things when your free time is likely to be so limited. Hearing friendly voices can be a real boon after a tough day -- especially if you're feeling lonely or depressed too.

No need to apologise to me for anything tactless, certainly. Some of the massive verbal blunders I've made in the past, with rather less in the way of mitigating circumstances that you face just now, would make any such objections a teensy bit hypocritical. <:) Was the Rai in point four me, BTW, or do you know another? If so, I'm afraid I won't be able to contact the Nexans directly -- I haven't been a mailing-list subscriber for a couple of years, now, and the website appears to be down. If you need me to, though, I can probably dredge up Dan's e-mail address. He popped into AFD briefly a week or two ago, so Google should have something. Hope you got a good night's sleep, at least. *hug*

First, yay that you got the editing job. It sounds like a good deal, and will look fabulous on your resume. Plus, considering how wonderful you are, you might end up with a good deal of responsibilty and then a good deal of experience to help you get a good job when you move away from here (which you are contractually obligated to do before you turn 25).
Second, which job is 9-5? Because that's more than part time. So I'm confused, which is normal.
Call me when you have some free time- we can go see SpiderMan or something.
