There are five days left in the school year and I cannot find my student ID. Feh!

On the other hand, Rupert and the Frog Song--a childhood favorite of mine, which is nearly impossible to find in this country--is being released, along with a bunch of Paul McCartney's other animated short films, on this DVD. I am enthused beyond words. It's like an English version of Miyazaki, except with frogs and music from one of the Beatles.

My art class grades have not come in yet. Perhaps should email someone about this.

Let me be the only one/to keep you from the cold - Annie Lennox, Love Song for a Vampire

There's a smile when the pain comes/the pain gonna make everything alright - Black Crowes, She Talks to Angels

And then you miss me awhile/you were looking for yourself out there - Train, Drops of Jupiter - I really love this entire song.

And my clothes don't fit me no more/a thousand miles just to slip this skin - Bruce Springsteen, Streets of Philadelphia. The only movie I've seen that can make me cry in sadness every time is Philadelphia

And her eyes shine like the moon on the sea/she comes in incense and patchouli - Al Stewart, Year of the Cat. I also like the line "she comes out of the sun in a silk dress/running like a watercolor in the rain."

And the sons of engineers/ride their father's magic carpets made of steel - Arlo Guthrie, "City of New Orleans"

The waters dark and deep/inside this ancient heart - Billy Joel, Lullaby (Goodnight, My Angel)

God help us all if we're to blame for their unanswered prayers/they roll the sidewalks up at night this place goes underground - Billy Joel, No Man's Land. The only song I've seen that talks about the deadening effects of suburbia.

It's a cold room/and the walls ask where you've gone - Blood, Sweat & Tears, Sometimes in Winter

With fingernails that shine like justice/and a voice that is dark like tinted glass - Cake, Short Skirt, Long Jacket. A pean to sexy secretaries.

A thousand dreams I still believe/I'd make you give them all to me - Celine Dion, I Surrender. Mouse sent this song to me when we wrote a lot together; it's an image song of sorts for Crow, one of her characters.

Time passes much too quickly/when we're together laughing - Chicago, Beginnings

I wrap my fear around me like a blanket/I sailed my ship of safety 'till I sank it - Indigo Girls, Closer to Fine. I like this line because it reminds me that such ships always eventually sink, so one must learn to swim.

And as she turns/this way she moves in the logic of all my dreams - Sting, Desert Rose. Though, singing-wise, I like the wailing bits the best.

And in the streets the children screamed/the lovers cried and the poets dreamed - Don McLean, American Pie

No one suspected/he was packing an uzi - Uh...someone... Cows with Guns. I have two songs now about angry barnyard animals.

Find a way to lie/'bout a home I'll never see - Five for Fighting, Superman

How long 'till my soul gets it right/can any human being ever reach the highest light - Indigo Girls, Galileo. I keep being impressed by the courage and conviction of the man, even though it's hundreds of years since he's died.

And MacHeath spends like a sailor/did our boy do something rash? - Louis Armstrong, Mack the Knife. This song is a jazzy little number about a hired killer. The world needs more of those. My maternal grandmother likes this song just as much as I do. I'm pleased.

This shattered dream you cannot justify/We're gonna scream until we're satisified - Pat Benetar, The Legend of Billy Jean (Invincible)

And that's all. I might do this later with more obscure stuff, foriegn language things, or instrumental/sheet music.

Off to the RPG/Puppy Picnic!

The other interesting thing is that one can't seem to find the Rupert TV series either; though I have seen the Macartney DVD in these parts.
I also enjoyed the books, way back in the day...

Do you wanna watch Philadelphia together sometime? I haven't seen it in a few years, and have been needing to re-watch it, and would love your company doing so.
