Cruel Ways of Waking Up
25/3/04 11:13One of the most effectively evil ways my brain has ever tricked me into getting out of bed happened this morning.
I fell asleep and had a dream--a kind of pedestrian dream, in which I'd gone to a comic book store and bought two nice collected volumes of comics. One was the next collected volume of the Fables series, and one was probably a reissue of Ruse after CrossGen had put it back into print. I remember explaining the concepts of both to someone who was in the store or the dream with me earlier.
So I'm half awake, thinking, "hm, if I get up, I can go take a shower, and then go read a few pages of Fables before I have to go to work."
I open my eyes and abruptly realize that not only do I not have those beautiful collected volumes sitting on my dresser where I know I placed them, but that they do not, in fact, exist.
:P

25/3/04 17:16 (UTC)While I occasionally get heartachingly peaceful and beautiful dreams, most of them are:
ambiguous and filled with personal symbology,
ambiguous with an undertone of melancholy lurking evil, or
terrifiying entrapments I wake up from with my hands clawing in front of my face.
I don't think you'd like having a good 90% of them. So, no. You may not.
