Hi everyone. If you couldn't make the chat due to time concerns or the fact that I was away from 7-10 and not checking my journal, or the fact that your browser kept crashing, I've kept a log.

I think for a first time project like this it was pretty interesting and productive. But I want to see what you think, so here is a poll. There are questions and things to vote on even if you did not get to the chat.

Hmm. I'm rather sorry I was unable to attend. Although I'd most certainly shoot my mouth off and piss everyone off... :P... would be good if there was another chat at some point in the near future.

Now, my worthless, biased, unresearched opinion:

As to the "start date" of the GBLT movement, the movement has evolved over time. You can't exactly compare the aims and morals over the movement in the 60's (Who cares as to what sex we like) as to today (OMG we want RIGHTS NOW!). Generally, as long as the otherkin "community" is under the radar, society can't exactly single us out and abuse us. As being "otherkin" isn't something that is as blatantly obvious as being gay, and we have every right that every "normal" person has in society, we really don't need to try and attain anything at the moment- the problem will only come when someone stands up on a soapbox and demands the government recognises them as being really a dragon- which will happen eventually, I presume.

Also, otherkin isn't a religion. Unlike, say, Catholics, this is a deeply personal thing that comes from searching yourself, not from being integrated into a group or something that you are born into. Also, "otherkin" covers a massive amount of people with greatly differing views, the term isn't refined- some people like myself are at odds with most of the opinions expressed by the "community", but have equal say as there is no heirachy. Once certain factions "come out of the closet", other factions will renounce them for doing so and all kinds of mean and nasty things are going to happen, and new terms and definitions will evolve to seperate the groups. Maybe.
