Some of you may remember how I posted a while back about how I wanted to have a discussion about the Otherkin and LGBT communities—what our similarities and differences are, where the groups overlap, how the two groups can learn from each other, and other interesting stuff.

What does everyone think about having that discussion online on Friday, Jan. 30th (that’d be a day later for those of you past the international date line, I think) from about 7-9 pm? If this works out and people want to talk more, we can have a series of them throughout the coming months, perhaps with predefinied topics of discussion.

Logistical Stuff:
- I think it’s a good idea to hold this discussion online because that’s how most people from other time zones or countries would be able to make it. This way we maximize our number of participants and viewpoints. If you’re a person who’d like to take part but the online medium doesn’t like you (Rush), if you’re on campus you can drop by my room, read the discussion, and I can type out what you want to say, if anything at all. (I personally think it’d be neat if we could get all the current Mawr students who want to take part in this to crowd into my room, because it’s silly for us to be sitting in our individual rooms while participating in the same chatroom while we could be eating pizza and discussing the matter among ourselves at the same time we all chat).
- I picked that time and day because it seems convienient for me; if the time is a problem we can push it back from 8-10 pm or somesuch so people on the west coast can drop in.

I know of nothing at the moment that would prevent me from being there.

Except possibly dinner not being ready on time and eating late.

But sounds good.

Sounds great! I'm always interested in a little fringe sociology.

Let me know more by email, as I won't be paying much attention to LJ in the week prior to the chat.

Sounds good-- especially the thing with being in your room and all. I look forward.

I'd be interested, but 7-9pm your time ends up being 12-2am my time, so it's unlikely I'd be able to make it... but then, you never know.
