I so love Warren Ellis, and Royce.
(Went and got vols. 49-51 of Transmetropolitan yesterday--since it looks like the date for bringing them out in collected form is nevereverever. Can you tell I love them? Will bring back to the Mawr to share the joy.)
Also, got substantial work done so far. More tomorrow, even. Though sadly (I fear) no zoo trip as I wanted--got sucked into fascinating book about toy industry instead.

I worked...for a long time trying to "listen for" his name [Ged] and making certain it really was his name This all sound very mystical and indeed there are aspects of it. I do not understand, but it is a pragmatic business too, since if the name had been wrong, the character would have been wrong--misbegotten, misunderstood.
Later on she talks about teabushes and says that she didn't know anything about them till she was writing it.
Earlier: But I didn't plan anything, I found it.
I'm glad to know I am not the only person who thinks or writes like this. Gaudior, I am reminded of converations about Tybalt.
I love the OED. It lets you into words.
Take this word, for instance, innocently stumbled across while looking up "space". Etymology written below.
Snape. verb trans. Now dialect. Middle English. Old Norse sneypa outrage, dishonour. Cf. Icelandic sneypa, chide, snub. Norwiegian snoypa withdraw. Middle and Modern Swedish snopa castrate.
Linguists: sorry, too tired to find out how to write the little o with the line through it for the Norwegian or the o with the umlauts for the Swedish.
Proof that the fanfic community might be on to something after all.
