I ordered the Combo Pack. CD, libretto, and VCD of the documentary are on their way.
It's the most amazing thing -- it looks like it started out as an in joke and just steamrolled its way into reality. The documentary (available in a really small size online) is hilarious -- I mean, I'm convinced that there was no actual 1979 Super-8 movie footage, and they just concocted this entire false history to add a cult mystique to the whole thing, but they did it so well and yet also so campily that . . . wow. And the MP3 clips from the album were actually pretty good.
Font packages! Stage props! And a rumored actual production in Chicago in October 2003? This is just too bizarre for words. Thanks! I will be springing this on SWIL unawares at some point, rather than pointing them to the website, as I want to watch their reactions :-)
Eredien, where'd you hear about this? I got a personal note this afternoon from one of the cthulhulives guys who was curious how this was vectoring its way around the 'net.
I got the link from an email sent to the Nexus writing group I've been involved with for years now. A friend and fellow writer there, Ebony, posted it with the note "you've all got to go and see this."
Ebony's more heavily into the con scene than most people I know, and just came back from--Aggiecon, I think it was? So he may have heard about it there. I'll ask him.
