"League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" Movie

So, you can see the trailer for the new movie now, based on the comic by Alan Moore and various other genius people.

The comic book series is good. I mean, really, really good.
And they apparently did keep some things the same as in the books--you still can't see the invisible man, for instance. And Hyde is really quite scary. And there's Sean Connery. (He wasn't in the original, but I'm not complaining.)

But there's guns. Lots and lots of guns. It reminded me of The Matrix, a little. Now, I think The Matrix was a pretty fun movie. But I hope that it doesn't go on to influence the modern idiom of moviemaking based soley on its special-effects visual merits, as it appears to have influenced the "League" movie.

And they really need a better acronym. "LXG" just sounds like a bargian decongestant. And the logo looks a lot like the logo for the X-men movie, except gold instead of brushed chrome.

On the other hand, they're making movies now that I acutally want to watch the trailers for. So that's some improvement.

I admit it, I'm a special-effects whore. That whole "ooh, shiny!" thing.

Yes, the LXG thing has GOT to go. It was the only thing that made me roll my eyes and go, "Oh, bleh."

But the effects....ooooh, shiny!
