So, er. I'm not so much jumping on the wagon as hopping.

1. You were great at first. Cute, witty, entertaining, intellectual. And my family really liked you. We would sit around and talk about you for hours even after you were gone, and always looked forward to your next visit. But then you started getting strange. It was nothing at first, just a little bit of oddness in an otherwise normal visit. After you brought the venus flytrap home, it was all over.
I saw you again a year or so after we broke up. You were even worse, and other people even more persistent or crazy than I were leaving you, too. The worst part? You never even noticed, you just kept doing what you were doing. When I'm feeling confiding, I tell people I trust that I liked you; they laugh at you.

2. I really like seeing you over at my friends' house, and I'm sorry that I don't see you more often. But when we catch up we spend hours and hours talking. I'm happy that our relationship isn't that serious--I don't think you're up to carrying the entire weight of my nerouses, and you're a little young for that anyway. Though sometimes you suprise me.

3. I'm a little more worldly now, and don't always think you're the be-all-and-end-all of everything like I used to, but you're always there when I need comfort or inspiration--for me, or for anyone who's ever known you. You're always honest about what you are, and for that reason some people who don't like that kind of thing don't or can't get along with you. But that's their problem--I'm in your corner. I wish fewer people would tell lies about you, though; I don't see the point. You are who you are, and you're complete within yourself. I'm glad you've never let anyone tell you differently.

4. You're happy and brilliant and a little gothy, a good friend. I talk about you every chance I get to people I think might like you, but don't let it go to your head, as I fear you are: I'm waiting for you to get in touch with me, not the other way round, and if I don't hear from you every so often I wonder why you don't respect me enough to stay closer.

5. You were my first love, and everyone agrees you're a classic, but very few people know you personally. You're so strange that I feel no one will ever get to know you without talking to you for hours and hours. Many people aren't willing to put in the effort. I pity them, but they have a lot more free time than me.

6. When I talk with you, I feel so calm and centered afterwards that I often fall asleep. You're utterly gorgeous, but some other people think you move too slow for them.

7. You're great fun, but you're shallower than a goldfish. I like to hear other people talk about what you could become, though. You've got great potential--too bad it's usually wasted.

8. The other people who like you are all wackos; I'm the only sane one. But you really understand how I feel--and you're the only one willing to sit and listen to me blather about it for hours.

9. You're a wonderful person, but it took me some time to realize that. My friends all loved you, but I was a little more reserved; I hadn't met your cousins when I first met you and understand you better now that I see where you were coming from. I ended up falling for you hard, but I ended up falling for the people you introduced me to harder.

Guesses?

2-- Detective Academy Q?

And 6 is totally Mushishi. And I feel like I should know more of these, but I just haven't got any brain right now.

Oh, ha! I thought the whole thing was about one fandom . . . that might explain why I was utterly lost. Of course, I still haven't the faintest, but at least I feel as if things are in focus now. Maybe.

1: Dir En Grey
2: Battlestar Galactica
3: Pern
4: Sandman
5: Gormenghast
7: Ranma 1/2
8: erm... Harry Potter?
9: Spirited Away

Heh. I'll be surprised if any of these are right.

(I'd think some Tolkein would be in here, maybe some LeGuin or Diane Duane, but I couldn't think of where to place them.)
