Ansible is a SF/Fantasy Happenings Newsletter, for those not already in the know. They regularly have a section called "Thog's Masterclass," which chronicles Anatomically Improbable Figures of Speech and Other Bloopers of Colossal Proportions. This month, from Thog:

"Athena was perhaps the first mythical character to undergo parthenogenesis, having emerged fully formed from the forehead of her father, Zeus. Hence her temple on the Acropolis is called the Parthenon." -Steve Connor, Independent Science Editor, 10 June

Also, there's this lovely thing about Google, borrowed from Orion Sandstorrm:

Go to Google.
Type in "weapons of mass destruction."
Click "I'm feeling lucky."

And then, Shadowing's priceless commentary:
"You know if Google can't find them, then they simply don't exist."

This from The Onion AV Club's recent review of The Hulk:

"The Hulk takes the form of a wounded behemoth, battling to negotiate a compromise between a strong artistic vision and franchise expectations. It doesn't fully succeed on either count, but its integrity and substance stand out like an oasis in a field of cotton candy."

Man, what do they use to mix their metaphors? A cusinart?
