First. I've recently finished reading C.S. Lewis' Perelandra. It was interesting to me, but I still (despite having talked it over a bit with Lila) can't shake the feeling that the idea of the outside agency coming in to take away the incarnation of the Devil kind of sidestepped the issue of individual choice on the part of the Adam & Eve types.
Yes, I know...I know there's an internal problem with my reasoning there. Probably a lot of them. I must think about it more.

Second. Gaudior's most recent post was something that, for me, went right today. Thank you, Gaudior. Literary criticism, if you want it, will be forthcoming later. Right now I'm still going, "ooh, wow, that hit."

Third. Religion of a different kind. This is the "stuff" part. I didn't think that this was the "...pictorial representation of the ultimate goal of every Christian."

Come to think about it, I guess that "being more Christlike and loving" just isn't that easy to put into a photo mosaic.

Note: More about this where I found it, the excellent weblog Making Light.

They want to set up some kind of a card system around campus instead of the current key-and-card combo. They've been planning this since this May, and no student, as far as I know, has heard about it until the campuswide email was sent out today. I know I didn't. And they're supposed to be implementing this next fall semester. There wasn't even a student on the board that they put together to see if they needed a card system. I'm annoyed.

I don't want my ATM card and phone card and vending machine thingy and keys all in one thing. I don't think it's safe. I do think it would be nice to be able to get into my friend's dorms without needing them to come and get the door, but if someone drops their card and Joe From Off the Street gets it, they can get into all the buildings too. And what's this I read about "laundry"? I don't want to have to pay for laundry! Plus, I think the boxes outside the dorm would be ugly. What's wrong with keys, for pete's sake?

They've even started talking about Sept. 11th in the report on why we need access cards. (Microsoft Word Format). The world is going mad.

If you feel the same way I do - or even if you don't - and go to BMC or anywhere in the trico, go fill out the survey that's in your inbox. Please.
