eredien: Dancing Dragon (Default)
I have got into a 300-level English course. It's about Troy, which I am interested in. This helps. There were only two books, which were expensive, but they are worth it, being Chaucer in Middle English and the Illiad. (Not in Ancient Greek.) I now have an excuse to read both of these in their full versions. An excuse with a deadline, mind you, but an excuse.
It's going to be fun. I felt like I fell headfirst into the deep end of the English Major's Swimming Pool, though, when I was shopping the class. Exhilerating, but first I have to figure out how to breathe.

Spent yesterday and the first part of this morning doing absolutely nothing, and loved it. Well, "absolutely nothing" consists of mostly reading Rumi (a fascinating poet), some manga, drawing stuff, and climbing trees. I shouldn't have done that. But I needed to. My life had become too stressful for me to think clearly about it at all.

Today, I am going to finish hanging my posters, and set up my keyboard in the corner for fun.

And then I am going to do massive quantities of reading, considering I have to get through this weekend's work, Monday's work (martial arts classes), and if at all possible, the work that was due last Tuesday for the Troy class so that I know what's going on.

In other news, here's Wayman's descripton of how to get to the Quita Woodward room, for those unfamiliar with Thomas's twists and turns. Names have been changed to protect the (somewhat) innocent.

The process was vaguely reminiscent of Zork or Hunt the Wumpus:

You are in a maze of twisty passages, all alike.
> follow gallian
You are in a maze of twisty passages, all alike.
> follow gallian
You are in a maze of twisty passages, all alike.
> follow gallian
You are in the Quita Woodward room. There are comfy chairs.
> sit in comfy chair

I'm worried that if i try this on my own, it might be more like:

You are in a maze of twisty passages, all alike.
> go left
You are in a maze of twisty passages, all alike.
> go right
You are in a maze of twisty passages, all alike.
> go left
You have been eaten by a Groo.
Game Over.

Yay! I liked it, at least. It's more effective if you've seen the game and can envision the graphical quality of a Gallian that is a little pink-and-black dot and a Wayman that is a pink-and-brown-dot (the brown dot being a hat), but it's fun nontheless.
