eredien: Dancing Dragon (Default)
Okay, time for some random idea-post that I have had for a while and just not bothered to write down until now:
I am convinced that L.L. Bean has a contract with TSR/Wizards of the Coast (the Dungeons and Dragons people). They have been manufacturing bags of infinite holding for years without telling anyone, and have just updated it a little from the "brown woven sackcloth" model.

What is a bag of infinite holding, you ask?
It is a bag that simply acts as a kind of personal portal to an infinitely large and flexible dimension in which you can fit any number of things. (Just be careful not to turn in inside out, as it tends to swallow universes.)

Why L.L. Bean? I don't know. I just know that I have only had two of their bags of infinite holding since sixth grade, and the first one died only because the zipper finally gave up. And I can fit many things in it. I have, in the past, sucessfully put in my bag of infinite holding (in nifty turquoise with patches, may I add):
-The entire contents of my desk. As I am a writer and artsy type person who generates a lot of paper, this is impressive.
-Every book in all of the following series at once: LOTR, the Simarillion and the Guide to Middle Earth, the Deathgate cycle (which is a hefty 8-novel set), a duology of books by Garth Nix, and several random other books, plus some CDs and pencils
-All of my course notes and textbooks for all my classes this past semester
-Approximately 10 assorted largeish books I took out of the libary for my geology research paper

Currently, there are: two sets of colored pencils, a large sized sketchpad, a notebook, two pairs of shoes, a plastic baggie of figs, a day planner, a watch, seven pens, a set of christmas cards and envelopes, a copy of "Les Miserables" and "Stranger in a Strange Land," a CD-Rom, a half-completed cross-stitch project, a bag with jewelry in it, a wall calendar, a book of Bach piano sonatas, a "write your music on these staff lines" notebook, a copy of the sheet music from the movie "A land before time", a digital camera, a set of Dungeons and Dragons dice, two Cheapass Games, a bunch of stuff for my contact lenses, and a little folder full of stuff in my bag. And it's not....quite...full...yet.

Man, do I love my backpack.
