Tired Happy Person
29/9/01 13:08The title of this entry is a parody of some song, "Smiling Happy People," by some band who don't remember.
Well.
I watched "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" last night with one of my friends here, Katherine, and was once again amazed. This is my fifth time watching that marvelous movie, and even when the DVD player skipped we got the opportunity to see that each and every single shot in the movie was put together beautifully, and is utterly perfect.
Then I went online and talked with Arcturax until three am. We're probably both completely exhausted this morning, but it's a good kind of exhaustion. We talked about religion, and about life, and about God. We've got some different ideas on God, and different ideas about how heaven works, and some other things. But it was utterly amazing, at least for me, to be able to talk about things like that honestly. It's something I can do with very few people. And it was fascintating to see where our personal theologies - is that a word? - coincided, and where we didn't think alike, and why. And it makes my heart happy to know there are differences, but we can get through it, and work around it, with the love we have for one another. *hugs Arcturax* I love you so.
I got up at nine - further proof that whatever sanity I have left is slowly leaking out my ears - and walked across campus but managed to miss an appointment with a friend anyway. I hate it when I let people down.
On the way back I stopped by the new pond they built last year for water runoff. There are foxes living there, with kits, and I love foxes. At the beginning of this year I decided that I'd go out there on the weekends, every once in a while, and see if I could get a picture of them. They didn't poke their heads out today. I think I went too late in the morning. But I will get a picture.
And I'll get a picture of the hawk that nests around campus, too. I wish I'd had my camera the other day when it swooped by the administration building, persued ("mobbed" is the technical term) by some really angry crows. It was magnificent in the afternoon light.
I sat in the grass anyway, getting slightly damp from the dew on the grass, and saw the shadows of clouds moving over the land and felt the warmth of the sun on my back and happiness and peace in my heart. I need to do that more often, I think.
My pagan friends here at campus say that this place is full of magic and ley lines and things, and that's why it's a Good Place to Be. I don't think I believe that, exactly, but I know there's something special here.
But right now, since I didn't get any fox pictures, here's a picture of the new butterfly garden that they made over the summer. I think it's also actually shaped like a butterfly, but because I couldn't see it from the correct angle, I can't tell for sure.
