L.K. Pendragon: This is yours; I rewatched Labyrinth last night especially for research purposes.
I liked writing this. It forced me to throw out everything extraneous and make myself go, "what is the story I want to tell? Is it this or this? It can't be both."

The child fell silent, but Sarah never turned back.

The other pages were blank, cover undecorated save title and owl's-eyes—the badge and binding of my late master, Jareth before me. I set myself a year for the unraveling of it, eager to see the what of the words, the why of the lock. Did you note hollows under my eyes, sister, when they led you—regretting—in? I'd read marginalia 'til dawn.

"Toby!"

"I am Jareth, mortal and stolen as any and all before me. Why should I return, when he came for me, and you did not follow?"

Today's tally:
One 100-word drabble.
One rejection letter with useful advice.
I think it's a draw.

More drabbles will be forthcoming; I think of ideas on my commute.
