Also worth noting that an eight-foot length runs on a nine-volt battery, which could probably be built into the handles. This means no more power packs that poor Hsien has to be strapped into, and no more wires running up her arms.
See, this is what I like about doing cosplays year after year; you can add improvements to the costumes each time. I'm working on designs for Dokugakuji Sword Mk.2 already; I think we have designs for Shien Whips Mk.2 now as well?
I've taken another look, and awesome as this may be, I'm no longer so sure it will be as usable as I'd thought. The wire is too thin to use only one filament; we'd have to braid three or four of them together. While that is certainly doable, it also ups the power requirements, so we'd have to use the power packs again.
