Every week, they have a little blurb on the Bryn Mawr main website about something...ask a professor, ask a grad student, ask an alum. This week's is'What Happened to Metallic Shoes', by an alum from the class of '85. It's nice to know that more than ten years out of college, she hasn't forgotten about the stresses of finals week.

Only once have experienced similar levels of stress, workload and general hassle to that of my finals week. It was when I'd missed a day's work on a newspaper I was meant to be editing, solo, in four days. But even that wasn't as bad, because I wasn't depressed at the same time.

I think metallic shoes would have distracted me even then, though. Mostly because I'd have been thinking, "Blimey, these are very heavy to walk in!" ;)
