70s Geek: Builds analog circuits with discrete components like transistors, resistors, and capacitors, but wants to try TTL logic and Op amps. Has more than a passing interest in Ham radio. Owns a portion of an 8-bit computer built on S-100 rack cards. Gets together with fellow geeks to assemble a working system, then spends the better part of the day getting it to beep at various pitches. Looks forward to the new Heathkit and Allied Electronics catalogs. Has a collection of parts stripped from TV sets and radios, including vacuum tubes. Flies model planes and launches model rockets. Owns and operates a slide rule, but is saving for one of the new LED calculators. Draws using a T-square, triangles, and a lead holder. Subjects: rockets and electronic circuits. Plays with various transformers trying to throw the biggest arc possible. Owns a chemistry set and has added additional chemicals to devise better pyrotechnics. Has friends who can mimic a robot’s voice (Fireball XL5, Robbie, or Lost in Space).
Hi. I guess I do count, then. Taught myself obsolete computer language at age eight to program Texas Instruments console machine to speak with robot voice synthesizer.
Yes, I actually got it about five minutes after I left that comment, and then immediately sent you a reply by email (both thanking you and asking a few questions)....
