*Please don't read this if you are easily prone to crying, overly sensitive about animals, especially cats, or getting really upset really easily.*

I just got an email from a friend of mine, Karkovice. It's one of those internet petitions. I usually don't pay attention to those, unless it's important.
This one I forwarded to everyone in my email address book.
It concerns some Japanese company that puts kittens in glass bottles, and leaves them there till they are full-grown to grow into the shape of the bottle. They use illegal muscle relaxants to put the kittens into the bottles. They use super-glue and feed it with an eyedropper and use a syringe to take out its wastes.
They sell stuff so people can do this at home. Apparently this is a big fad in New York City and also China. There's a guestbook where people talk about the techniques for doing this to their cats. One had a cat who threw up in the bottle and drowned. One tried to break their cat's leg to fit it into the bottle and had the cat die. One asked if removing the cat's internal organs would make it easier to go into the bottle.
This molds the cat's bones and muscles into the shape of the container...some of the luckier cats, I am sure, are not even able to walk after having such horrific things done to them.
This sounds too horrible to be real, but it is. Bonsai Kitten website has pictures of it, and the guestbook.
I've done what I can - posted in my livejournal, forwarded the email to people. Today my dog has an appointment at the vet's where I used to work, and I am going to bring in pictures for them so maybe they can do something. Maybe I can call a news hotline or something.
Please, please stop this horror. If you got the email petition, sign it. If you didn't, please email me: I will send it to you. Thank you.

The web site is all a really really sick hoax. You couldn't really do that, the animal would die before it got very big. The pictures were done using photoshop and the like. The outrage in the guestbook is real but those are people fooled by the pictures. However the stories in the guestbook which support it are people who get the joke and added their own sick joke comments to it. I'm all for a good joke though this one is a bit much.

Check these things up on Snopes, they debunk a lot of urban legends and hoaxes like this.

Don't feel bad about being fooled, its a very well done hoax even if its sick. At least it turned out to be fake right?
