eredien: Dancing Dragon (Default)

I am now done with my Chaucer paper, inordinately happy since it looks like this is (*gasp*) going to be a light-week work, since I've already read the novel for class and we have no cities readings this week. I just have a paper due on the 20th, that's all, and I'm tremendously interested in the topic. I get to write about my favorite paintings ever, which are featured in a novel we've been reading. I go and see them almost every time I'm home, like an old friend.

Not to mention the Chaucer revelation I discovered while writing the paper, something which made me think, "wow, I was hoping this would happen to give me an example to really think about, but I didn't actually think it would." (There's animal metaphors, see, and the paper idea is that these metaphors weren't meant to be pretty but meant to be read symbolically/allegorically. I kept going and looking up all the animals and what they meant, and this led me to a genuine symbolic revelation about the metaphor. I don't know if anyone has ever noticed it before.)

In other news: I breathed this weekend.
Arc came (and left, waaah!) and met people, and went to Harry Potter with me (I jumped like a five-year old at all the scary bits), and talked, and went to the All-Night Reading (where I got to tell Story, thank goodness...I think I might have gone nuts had I not done that soon) and watched massive quantities of Red Dwarf with me and Meridel (aka Weyrlady). This was good. I miss him already.

I got a nifty journal with Death (Sandman Death) all over in it in the perfect shade of red, and a happy mix CD. Courtesty of said Arc-bat. :)

I talked for over an hour with Meridel and Moo when we went to Brecon, like I used to do when I had time. It was good. I saw the opening sequence of a new anime TV show that looks quite good--"Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex", and heard the theme song. I get goosebumps when I listen to it. Homasse: What if I sent you money? Could you get me the soundtrack to this? I need it.

There is a new James Bond movie coming out soon (I admit it, I'm a 007 fangirl) and my parents managed to finagle me train tickets home 'cause I was a dope and didn't order them early enough myself.
I talked to my sister, who will be trying to go to Germany next year with the Rotary International Exchange Program, and seems all happy about it.
I talked to Wayman on Friday for more than five seconds when I was semi-asleep.
I am going to be President of the Martial Arts Club, once we fill out paperwork. No, I don't know how I did that. (Well, okay, I do. I don't think Kitten had enough time. Not that I do, or anything.) ;)
I returned emails that had been sitting in my inbox since September.

All in all, a good good weeekend. I'm so glad I got breathing time.
Now I shall go check webcomics, and go to bed.
