It's a beautiful day outside. The sun is shining. The sky is blue blue blue. The flowering trees are doing their thing, and smelling wonderful in the process - one almost feels as if you could open up your mouth and eat the scent.

My Gensomaden Saiyuki (aka Journey to the West, an incredible anime) fanfic - I don't make it a common practice to write fanfic, but really really wanted to do something with these marvelous characters - is coming along splendidly. I know exactly where it's going now. It needs to be true to the characters, but if I can do that, it'll all be okay.

I got a lot of the books for my history paper yesterday, and started really digging into that. I have a lot of work, but will be satisfiying to finish it off.

I played Sock Attrition the other day. This energizes one like you wouldn't believe, and is a whole lot of fun to boot.

Two people already got back to me about jobs for this summer.

It appears that the world in general loves me. I like this.

They're going to release it professionally? {bounce bounce} nifty . . . can't wait. I dearly love that series. I might even be willing to go all obsessive fan-girl on it, although I will never go as far as Jewel. {cue screaming fan-girl} "Hakkai-sama!" {/screaming fan-girl} Nope, not gonna go there. I love the voice and the personality that goes with it. But no -sama for me.
(I have a worship rant, which I may do at some point)
Genki-evil. Like genki-evil. {blinks innocently} I'd be worried if I didn't know me so well. ;)
oh, and can I read the fanfic when it's done? I've been trying to find good fanfic and its in extremely short supply. not to mention most of it is slash. oh well. I did find one that wasn't painfully bad, nor was it slash, although it did involve three out of the four sitting in a bathtub together.

I don't think you did, but the website said.

I don't think any of them would make stellar dates unless you were looking for a one night stand with Goyjo.

I must ask Jewel to look for Black Jack stuff while she's in Japan. . .

Ah, writing . . .

I can understand the "too much respect for characters that should never ever in a million years be slashed together to write slash about them" but Saiyuki is just screaming out for slash. it has moments with little arrows that say "insert slash here."

not to mention that it would not be completely out of character for various people to sleep with various other people. and therefore saiyuki slash is not deeply wrong in the same way as someother slash.

My only objection to Saiyuki slash is when nothing else happens, there is no plot or stupid plot, and when the characters aren't being themselves. but I have this objection to all fanfic when it happens.

The insert slash here moments were not so much "see character A jump character B right here, right now" but more a window that lets you see other aspects of what their relationships are or could be. when they flirt/tease/whatever you see that they could have a slash like relationship. not necessarily that they do, but only that they could. and it wouldn't be out of character.
Like Jewel and I were talking about this -- Goyjo is in love with Hakkai. Goyjo is not attracted to men and so doesn't think about the two of them having any kind of sexual relationship. But the love remains. and you could write a slash where the two of them come to terms with this and decide to see if they _can_ have a relationship. But they probably won't do this in the series because Goyjo is a playboy and wants to have one-night-stands with pretty girls. any other kind of relationship would be long and involved and take away from the plot.

mostly, I think they are saving it for next Tuesday. :)
