Weekend Update
2/10/05 22:34- Have catharsis.
-Relax.
-Inform sister of being a dragon; have meaningful conversation about same.
-Begin to plan trip home for Thanksgiving. Make reservations.
-Clean out email box; mail letters to grandmother and friends in Japan.
-Watch Mirrormask. If you are anywhere near a theatre showing this movie, please go. Your interest will help it get a wider release, and it's worth it. I mean, she's out-Gothed Jareth the Goblin King from Labyrinth! Write review of same.
-Find and send in RSVP for
kaypendragon's wedding; dig out information for calling therapist for depression at the same time. Call therapist.
-Read good books. Finished: The Diary of a Teenage Girl, Phoebe Gloeckner. God, I thought my adolescence was abnormal, but I guess I was wrong. Begun: the second in the Curse of Chalion series by Bujold; Ursula Vernon's wonderful
gearworld journal project. More on tap: Mythago Wood, and another separate memoir thing written by my freshman year HA, both of which I need to order.
- Begin redesign of website.
- Read more of Thrud's novel and comment.
-Laundry.
-Sleep.
- Write up huge LJ post that I have been promising for weeks.
- Do research on Amber Room; attempt more on the sestina. Retitle and market-research "Eupremia," revise "Love Story."
- Hang giant paper crane.
-Send camera in for repairs.
-Attempt to look at apartments for myself and possible roommate
irene_adler. Email her about what I find.
-Find if there are dentists in the area that use my dental insurance. Schedule appointment.
-Find out information about Scottish Dancing from
gallian. Find suitable skirt for said dancing.
- Go shopping for clothes.
-Research cellphones. Realize that getting one before I move is a bad idea.
-Catch up on livejournal. Do something for
paperspace and finish big post on terminology and definitions for
next_of_kin.
- Call A. and
lotusbiosm.
- Use free museum pass.
- Email people who teach self-defense skills to girls to ask if I can volunteer.
-Meet woman who plays glass harmonica on streetcorner.. Order her CD.
-Email Bryn Mawr archives about incredibly esoteric Mawrter reference I found in a YA novel to see just how good the author's research was.
I even got to stuff that wasn't on the list. All in all, not bad for one weekend.
I really like fall.

4/10/05 01:01 (UTC)A HA is a Hall Advisor, not a professor.
I had a copy years ago, I think, and think it's the book I'm looking for. I was too young to read it the first time around though I knew it was brilliant writing. For years I was under the impression it was DeLint instead and drove myself crazy going through all his anthologies looking for a story that wasn't there.

4/10/05 01:04 (UTC)I thought it was excellent. Yes, depressing, but not bad enough (near enough my experience) to cause me to go into whimpering anguish mode.
Am so glad highschool was not quite like that for me.
