So, I have been playing Pokemon lately in between reading and applying for jobs (I am trying to teach myself C++ on a Mac; does anyone know how to get a Mac OSX compiler? I thought I could use terminal and unix, but it turns out that Mac OSX doesn't like me giving its terminal Unix commands. I hear you can download something called the "Apple Developer Environment" which will give you a compiler, but then you have to apply to be an Official Apple Developer, which I really don't think I qualify for. So annoying).

I have beaten the elite four (it turns out you're supposed to do this at the end of the game, not 3/4 of the way through, but I am tops at resource management in-game).

I am currently raising a bunch of berries and trying to get extra-special event pokemon and legendary pokemon and stuff like that, and level up some of the lower-level higher-level characters I have (eg, my Steelix at level 53 and my level 42 Staraptor and my level 38 Haunter, but most of my other "basic" pokemon are in the high 50's or early-high 60's.

I don't understand how to get more money for things like pokeballs after beating the elite four. I'm trying to do a bunch of side battles and capture a bunch of pokemon, but I keep running out of money to buy pokeballs, which is kind of a ridiculous problem to have at this point in the game. This is a problem as I need a lot of expensive high-level pokeballs to catch Mesprit and Cressilia. :P

I am also trying to win a bunch of contests to do another side-quest, which is a pain in the butt.

I also got all 28 Unowns. Apparently the reason why people want all 28 is because you can then get seals for all 26 English letters plus ? and ! and seals on pokeballs up your awesomeness in contests somehow.

I somehow got Heatran and the Giratina with pretty much little trouble, and am having a devil of a time with Mesprit, who runs all around the map.

I am trying to get a bunch more legendaries, but some of them are hard to do without having been at a Pokemon event in Tokyo in 2007 or NYC in 2008...

I can also apparently wake up Regigias and battle him, but only if I have the other 3 legendary golems from another game which I don't have. Blech.

You don't have to join the developer program to get XCode. Stick your install disc in, you should be able to install the developer tools. Or if you want the latest revision (which you probably do) then joining the developer program is totally free, and "qualifying" for it consists entirely of "knowing it exists and registering" IIRC.

Also most Mac-specific tutorials will probably be about Objective-C rather than C++, but you do get gcc installed, so you should be able to follow terminal-oriented guides.

If your tutorials tell you to use vi or emacs or some other masochistic textmode editor, I'd suggest IGNORING that part and either using XCode or TextMate instead.

You can get XCode free. I'll let people who have actually done it (eg my boy) explain the details though....

To get money, you can use the Vs. Seeker to rematch against trainers. Or you can sell items that you get from the Underground, though that probably takes longer and generates less XP.

You can often get the events via trade on

pokewifi --- that's how I got the things there was no way I could get from a friend, like the regi trio. I'm pretty sure my copy are cloned, but I don't even care, because I was not willing to play a separate game for just three Pokemon.

You could get a Manaphy here still I think, although I don't know how much longer that will last.

The roaming legendaries are arguably worth burning master balls on. You can often get cloned master balls off of

pokewifi too, or sometimes randomly off of GTS.

I'm having trouble using GTS because the interface is so clunky, and all people seem to want is Dialga or other super-rare pokemon (nobody wants a level 20 Cranidos? Really?). :( I will probably sign up for pokewifi soon.

If you make a reasonable offer, usually something will go within a couple of days; however with Black and White out in Japan, a decent chunk of the userbase is gone, so it may take a little longer. Also, people can only ask for things they have seen, so trying to trade rare things that aren't hard to get in the endgame sometimes doesn't go as well as just offering a Vulpix or something else everyone thinks is cute.

If you can generate Glaceons or Leafeons they will go like hotcakes, since people with only SoulSilver or HeartGold have no other way to get them.
