"I am borne along as if by a four-horse chariot!"

You know that inane, sexist, addictive rap song, Baby got Back, don't you? (Don't try to deny it, I know you're humming the stupid thing right now.)

It's in Latin and Greek.

Have fun!
My motto: if you must be obscene, at least be erudite about it. Life's more fun that way.

There's a rant I've been meaning to write for about 2 years. here's the short version. Baby got Back is not sexist.
No, I am not joking, although I enjoy teh song in a tongue in cheek manner.
It isn't sexist.
It has lyrics about not respecting guys who just use girls and drop them, thinking magazines promote a wrong idea of how women should look, especially playboy in showing women with fake bodies He also is against magazines encouraging womenm not to eat, and wants black women and men to appreciate the body type that is naturaul to them gentically. He is very fond of women, and basically says he will do what they want if he is into them. Ok, yes, it is not the most romantic way of putting things, clearly it's about wanting bodies for sex. but that is a naturaul result of having eyes and hormones, and as far as music goes i find this a lot better than the way most songs present women.

Yeah! I was just going to say that. I really think there's a difference between "I find you incredibly sexy, possibly for one particular feature, and I really want to have sex with you," and "I see you as a sex object." It's true that someone who doesn't respect you or see you as a person may say the former-- but so may someone who loves you dearly, all of you, and really really wants to f*** you. Desire is a key part of a good relationship, I think-- it's neither necessary or sufficient, but it's damn cool when it's there. And I see nothing wrong with writing a song purely about desire. So I rather like it.

Plus, the donkey sings it in Shrek.

Yeah, I have to agree.

Personally, I object to the girls talking at the begining of the song -- the rest of it doesn't bother me.

The women he's lusting after are real. I don't consider that to be sexist.

Priceless. The translations give it a certain something missing from the original, I'd say. :)

Um... how do you hum rap, anyway?

eh?

sorry... never heard of it... and what does "erudite" mean?

I actually don't know the song either, but I wasted a good twenty minutes reading parts of the Latin...

I should be proud. It was only twenty. That is marvelous. *grin*

I agree; erudition is a wonderful thing.
