Is trust an earned thing or something that comes as unlooked-for as rain?

Both.

You don't set out trying to get trust, but your actions will tell the other person whether you deserve it or not.

Unlooked-for. Trust never makes logical sense. It just IS.

Sez I. Why do you ask?

You start with a set level. It goes up or down, depending.

Loyalty is unlooked for.

I think it happens both ways at times...

I think trust is something that grows out of contact, as long as it isn't broken.

Star Wars Cantina is by Mark Jonathan Davis, not Weird Al.

Well, I can only speak for me, and I think I'm way naive on this matter, but I start out trusting people completely. You have to earn my distrust. It's fairly easy to do, actually. And I know that when I don't trust you any more, I never trust you completely again, no matter how much time passes or what you do.
