I've gotten "Better than Bouillon" from both Shaws and Market Basket. The jar of vegetable base I have in my fridge at the moment appears to be vegan (allowing yeast, and assuming that "spice extractive" is okay, and is stickered $4.99 from Market Basket.

For celery flavor with less chopping/different texture, I'm quite fond of celery seed.
