I thought a lot about whether I wanted to live in Indiana or not. I have been thinking about options of "other places to live" since the last week in May, when Rachel first told me that she wasn't sure if she wanted me to be where we'd just moved to.
Indiana is: - Quite cheap - Has grad school programs I want to get into - I was already working on building a community there, which was really the clincher for me. I've already got a driver's license, and a bank account, and a martial arts club, and a therapist, and know where the streets are, and know the area. That counts for a lot, really.
There are only a few other places I know I'd want to move to--Seattle would be ok, and Philadelphia would be ok--but then if I applied to grad school this fall and got in next spring or fall, I'd have to move back to Indiana anyway. I don't want to do that. And both those places are more expensive than Indiana.
