gaudior, I'm sorry about "Care Bare Stare!" --- I think it's inappropriately dismissive. I still don't think reaching out in this way will "change the minds and hearts of formerly-closeted queer politicians;" I think it will be wasted energy. I'd love to be proven wrong, but I'm not going to spend my time on it, because I think there are better things to spend my time on. buria_q's point below --- that we tend to worry more about people in power and their feelings than about those being harmed --- is something I consider important to take into account. (I also end up influenced by which opportunities and communities are near me and important to me, which has its own set of problems, but is if not inevitable at least unsurprising.)
