I think that you are wrong. I do not think that this is a good strategy, because it is unlikely to work. All of my experience, reading, and instinct tells me that we cannot just Care Bear Stare! at homophobia. I think it might be a good moral viewpoint --- maybe moral isn't the right word here, but what I mean is that "yes, having compassion for people whose desires and politics conflict is valuable." Even then I'm not sure.

How about we just let outed politicians sort out their own identity crises and elect non-bigots instead? That seems like a much better strategy to me.
